Puzzled

I once prescribed; learn all there is to know

About the world. So I bought books; and movies;

And poetry; self-helps; puzzles; Sudoku!

I ev’n wrote poems, and read aloud at slams! Poor things.

I thought, “Hey I’m learning! Look at my looseleaf

And feel my pen’s prowess. That’ll show ‘em right, right?

I finished a puzzle, a thousand pieces, in two weeks

And beat my mom in scrabble; boy am I bright.

Then I hit a block, the one that writer’s smite

Sitting on chairs; trees; roofs; benches; and stairs;

My mind, blank as a page, searched in the night,

Searched in the night for something l’ready there.

  Now that I found my edge and corner pieces,

  This puzzle– I will finish by the weekend.
